Key takeaways
- EA has not announced FC 27 TOTY dates. Anyone giving you an exact day right now is guessing.
- In recent years it has started in the second half of January, with squads released over about a week.
- TOTY is the biggest market swing of the year. Everyone opens packs, so supply floods and most prices fall.
- The money is made on either side of the drop, not on the TOTY cards themselves.
- Falling prices mean more listings under your filter, which is when an autobuyer does its best work.
When is TOTY in EA FC 27?
EA has not confirmed it. At the time of writing there is no announced date, no voting window and no squad list for FC 27 Team of the Year, and we would rather say that than invent one.
What we can tell you is the pattern. For several years running, TOTY has arrived in the second half of January, after a public voting window that opens a week or two earlier. The squads are not released all at once either: recent years have staggered them, with the outfield XI, the goalkeeper, the women’s team and the honourable mentions landing on different days across roughly a week.
Applied to FC 27, which launched on 25 September 2026, that points at January 2027. Treat that as a pattern, not a promise. When EA announces it, this page gets the real dates.
How TOTY works
TOTY is voted for. EA puts up a shortlist, the public picks an XI, and the cards that result are among the strongest in the game for that season. Because they are voted rather than earned, the squad is usually front-loaded with famous attackers, which matters for what happens to prices.
The cards themselves arrive in packs. There is no SBC that hands you one, so the only routes are packs or the transfer market, and that is what makes the week so violent for prices.
What TOTY does to the market
This is the part worth understanding, because it is where the coins are.
When TOTY lands, a very large number of people open a very large number of packs at the same time. Everything that is not a TOTY card gets dumped on the market at once. Supply goes vertical, demand goes to almost nothing, and prices across the game fall, often hard.
That is the annual crash people talk about, and it is predictable in direction even when the timing is not. Two things follow:
- Before the drop, cards sit near the top of their range. That is a selling window, not a buying one.
- During and just after, cards sit near the bottom. That is the buying window, and it is short.
We covered the mechanics in more detail in our market crash guide.
What to do before it drops
The preparation is unglamorous and it is most of the job.
- Sell what you are holding. If you are sitting on expensive cards to flip rather than to use, the days before TOTY are when they are worth the most.
- Build coins, not a squad. Coins are the thing that appreciates during a crash. Cards are the thing that does not.
- Price check your targets now. Write down what they go for while the market is normal, so you can tell a real crash price from a listing that only looks cheap.
- Do not buy the hype. Prices often drift up beforehand as people speculate, and that drift usually reverses.
What to snipe during TOTY
When the market is falling almost everything is cheap, which sounds easy and is not. The cards worth catching are the ones that recover.
- Meta cards people actually use. A card that is in squads all season comes back. A card nobody picks just stays cheap.
- Fodder. Rating-specific fodder gets dumped in enormous volume during pack-opening weeks, then bought straight back up when the next SBC lands.
- Icons and heroes. Thin supply at the best of times, and genuinely mispriced when people are clearing clubs at speed.
- Chemistry styles. Boring, steady, and dumped by the thousand when people quick-sell pack contents.
What to avoid is the TOTY cards themselves. They are the most expensive they will ever be on day one, and every trader in the game is watching them.
Setting up for the drop
A crash is a volume event. There is no single clever flip, there are hundreds of small ones, and the limit is how many listings you get to first.
Set a filter for each card on your list with a Max Buy Now at your crash price, not today’s price. Set your run budget before you start, because a falling market is exactly where it is easiest to spend more than you meant to. Then let it run through the busy hours and read your run history afterwards rather than watching the tab.
Our filter settings guide covers sensible numbers, and the EA tax calculator will tell you what a flip actually clears after EA’s 5%.
TOTY FAQs
EA has not announced it. In recent years TOTY has started in the second half of January, after a voting window a week or two earlier, which points at January 2027 for FC 27. That is a pattern from previous years, not a confirmed date.
EA publishes a shortlist and the public votes for an XI. The winning players get TOTY cards, which are among the strongest in the game that season and come from packs.
Usually, yes. Huge numbers of packs are opened at once, so everything that is not a TOTY card floods the market. Supply spikes, demand drops and prices across the game fall. It is the biggest predictable swing of the year.
Sell. Cards are near the top of their range before the drop and near the bottom during it. Hold coins going in, then buy the cards people actually use once prices fall.
Generally not. They are at their most expensive on day one and every trader is watching them. The reliable money is in the meta cards, fodder and chemistry styles that get dumped while everyone chases TOTY.
